Also included in the box that contains the interactive whiteboard is a DVD with the SMART Notebook version 10 software and a license certificate that allows this software to be installed on one computer. The software is needed to connect the PC to the interactive whiteboard.
After you managed to install the new interactive whiteboard, you decide to hook it up to the trainer PC. To do that, the manual tells you to first install the SMART Notebook version 10 software. During the installation it automatically updated itself to Service Pack 2. Upon completion of the software installation, the manual tells you to plug in the USB cable of the interactive whiteboard. Sure enough, it works!
Now that you have successfully installed and tested the interactive whiteboard and its software, relate the interactive whiteboard CI to the trainer PC and set the status of the interactive whiteboard to “In Production”.

Because the interactive whiteboard is connected as a peripheral to the PC, the PC is its “Parent”. In other words, the interactive whiteboard is the “Child” of the PC.
